Wooden Pegboards

The pegboards come in standard sizes (24in x 48in, 48in x 48in, 48in x 96in), but because they are made of wood, they are easier to cut to fit. This can be a great convenience, especially if you plan to mount them on irregularly shaped walls. It would be best to have the staff at the home improvement shop cut them to your specific measurements, as they have the experience, skill, and special tools for this task. But you can easily research the proper method if you wish to do this yourself.

Wooden pegboards are usually colored white, black, or natural wood brown. But paint in various colors can be applied easily enough to suit your particular taste.

Metal Pegboards

Metal pegboards are becoming more and more popular today. They also come in standard sizes just like the wood pegboards, though they have a smaller 16in x 32in panel that costs an average of a little over $30, and a larger 48in x 120in panel, which can cost up to $500 or more in some shops.

Manufacturers of metal pegboards use different metals for their products, and their weights vary accordingly. Some metal pegboards have vertical slots instead of holes to hold more kinds of hanger accessories such as shelves, and some metal pegboards have both kinds of perforations.

Metal pegboards are known for their durability and strength. The metals used can last longer, and the metal panels are three times as thick as wood pegboards. You can use them almost indefinitely, and the perforations will not warp or deform. A metal pegboard correctly mounted on a wall can support items that can weigh up to a total of 2,000 pounds.

Aside from the abovementioned features, metal pegboards also can come in many colors. They come in smooth and patterned finishes to suit every preference and taste.
